BACKGROUND INFORMATION

In response to the COVID-19 Pandemic Fermanagh Trust sought to provide a local response to local need. They re-deployed staff and resources to help those feeling overwhelmed, anxious or lonely connect with others in their community. Fermanagh Trust established ‘Connect Fermanagh’ in April 2020 to reach out to individuals in need of a listening ear. Staff from Fermanagh Trust and Fermanagh House were able to use their skills and experience to quickly put in place a dedicated telephone befriending service for the residents of Fermanagh.

The Fermanagh Trust is a registered charity, established in 1995 to promote any charitable purpose, and to support initiatives which will lead to social and community development to improve the conditions of life for the people in County Fermanagh and immediate hinterland.

Since 1995 the Trust has supported hundreds of community based projects in Fermanagh. In order to continue this work, the Trust has established itself as a community foundation, building an endowment which will ensure the Trust can continue to support community and voluntary endeavours via grant awards.

In March 2022 Connect Fermanagh officially launched as a charity in it’s own right with it’s own Board of Trustees.

Our calls are made and received by a team of friendly Staff and Volunteers from across Fermanagh.

Referrals are accepted from individuals, agencies or groups acting on the request of an individual.

Calls are made at designated times, agreed with individuals.

We provide a general chat service, when requests for advice, signposting or information are received we take these requests, process through designated staff before responding to ensure quality, accuracy and consistency of information.

We are flexible and adaptable, we continually monitor, review and adapt our service to meet emerging needs.

We maintain a basic record of all contacts with individuals to ensure we can reflect on needs and demand and adapt our service accordingly
